OIRRT and COVID-19

March 17th, the OIRRT made the internal decision to suspend any entrance of volunteers to the island on our behalf due to dangers posed by COVID-19. This decision was made to protect our community from potential carriers of the virus, and is separate from any decisions or restrictions made by Hyde County or any of our Partner Groups.

We want everyone to stay safe, and hope that our regular volunteer operations can begin again soon. Furthermore, we encourage residents to limit off-island travel to emergency and essential needs only. If you are a resident who has traveled via plane or has traveled to high risk areas whether in-state, out of state, or overseas we encourage you to follow medical mandates and self quarantine for the CDC recommended duration.

If you plan to visit Ocracoke, we ask that you wear a mask when social distancing is not possible and please stay home if you are ill.

Thank you all for your support; together we will get through these difficult times.

Be Safe & Enjoy Your Stay!

When social distancing is not possible, please wear a mask while visiting Ocracoke Island.
